How to Achieve All Your Goals by Developing Mental Toughness…

by Belinda on May 2, 2012

Sculpting your body isn’t the easiest thing in the world. I should know, because I underwent a radical transformation when I was in my mid-30’s. And believe me, I certainly started at the bottom, because prior to my transformation I didn’t exercise. At all. So you can bet I struggled at times, especially in the beginning.

Around the same time I also started surfing. This was something I always wanted to do, but old fears from an asthmatic childhood held me back.  I tell you what, this wasn’t easy either.  Day after day I dragged that board out to sea, and day after day the sea dragged me back to the shore (usually choking and barely staying afloat). It was scary. It was tough. And there were many times when I just wanted to quit.

I’m sure you can relate.  As you’re working on your own body transformation, you’ve probably had plenty of times when you just wanted to quit. Maybe you were sore after a workout. Maybe your muscles were burning during the workout. Or maybe you just wanted to immerse yourself in a tub of ice cream and forget about your diet.

Then there’s that little voice in the back of your head saying nasty things like:

  • You’re too old.
  • You don’t need to do this.
  • You can’t do this.
  • Who are you kidding?
  • You’re too out of shape to even bother trying.
  • You should just give up – it’s not worth it.

Listen, we all have those thoughts. But the difference between success and failure is whether you let those thoughts control you.  Do you listen to them?  Do you just toss in the towel when things start to get a little hard, when things get a little uncomfortable?

Maybe in the past, but not this time. Because this time YOU’RE going to control your thoughts, control your body and control your life. You’re going to develop mental toughness. You’re going to start flipping those negative thoughts around, such as by saying:

  • I CAN do this!
  • This is the PERFECT time of my life to get started!
  • I am growing stronger, sexier and more confident every day!
  • I am in control!
  • When things get tough, I get even tougher!

This is so important, because your success literally hinges on what you’re thinking. If you think you CAN do it, you’re right. If you think you CAN’T do it, you’re also right.

You have a choice – will you control your thoughts, or will you let them control you?  Make your decision. Then watch this video to learn more about how to develop mental toughness:
